A. rewind, possibly for high efficiency;
B. replace the failed motor with a new motor;
C. invest in a premium efficiency product.

Options B and C tends to be a pocket buster!

Unless the user have deep pockets, Rewinding is the only option.

Mad about TORQUE:

In rewinding, to get more TORQUE and lower RPM and Power Consumption is to have more turn of wire on the the armature. This will generate more magnetic field thus it will have more torque to drive stiffer springs. It will also consume less current (Amps) and therefore produce less accumulated power. This setup will develop more torque per Amp, but it will draw fewer Amps that will prolong battery life, so it is hard to tell exactly how much torque or RPM it will develop after the change.

Crazy on RATE OF FIRE:

To get higher RPM is to have fewer turns of a larger gauge wire or parallel wires. This will reduce the terminal resistance of the motor, and increase the RPM. Doing this will make the motor consume more POWER and by doing produce more heat and will drain your battery faster, but it will be at a less manageable RPM.

In either case re-Winding may demagnetize the motor magnets which will cause the motor efficiency to decrease dramatically. Magnets can be demagnetized in several ways;
1.Heating, Hammering and/or Jarring;
2.Using an AC(alternating current)field

With a high torque setup, the motor will generate higher magnetic fields that can demagnetize the magnets. With high rate of fire setup, the motor will draw more current, which means it will run hotter, and that can also demagnetize the magnets. The damaging magnetic fields will probably be reduced with fewer turns, but if the current gets high enough, they might be the same or even stronger.

I have rewound motors myself with varying results just to kill the curiosity out in me.

But for those who have not yet re-wound a motor….

The same question still stand….to rewind or not to rewind?

Decades passed, and Tokyo Marui & the other Japanese manufacturers had enjoyed a golden period in the airsoft industry. New brands popped-up from Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong, although there was no denying that Marui was the grand-daddy of them all.

Then came the MELAMINE FREE all china made airsoft guns. that threatened to ruin grand-daddy. It marked the birth of the “ACM” at first look  it looks nice  but slightly naughty – full-metal, low-priced AEGs, which were exact copies of the Tokyo Marui innards. With a market filled with Marui mods, it opened up airsoft to a whole new community, the ACM (all china made) community of airsofters.

There was one big problem however…the production and sales of these replica toy guns on the mainland is kinda illegal. The unruly child enjoyed a bit of naughty fun while it lasted, but there’s no running away from the fact that what they were doing is as illegal as smoking crack while driving a stolen car full of prostitutes.

It’s 2009 now and China has launched “a crackdown on gun crimes to ensure social stability” (Ministry of Public Security said Tuesday in an online statement). The campaign which started back in March and will end on the 31st October includes confiscating illegal weapons (both real steel and replicas), which also includes seizing groups or individuals who produce them. To coincide with the 60th anniversary of the introduction of Communism in China, the government decided to get heavy on the airsoft manufacturers; the boss of AGM was arrested and penalized with a lengthy jail sentence. Also, we’ve received reports that the A&K factory has been closed indefinitely. And with a reported 34,690 imitation guns seized in Guangdong province alone (source), the question on everyone’s lips is – who’s next on the chopping block? Does this attack of the clones mean that the Chinese airsoft industry is just a flash in the wok?

What’s going to happen to the Chinese airsoft industry now then? Well, the fact that this “industry” was underground in the first place and that they got away with it so long means that there is a likelihood that the factories may continue to product them after the 31st October. Ive seen un-branded AEG sold for 2,200 pesos and believe it or not it full metal!

It’s possible that airsoft manufacturers might try to fill the void that might be left from the closure of Chinese factories, by making their own line-up of economy guns. For example, VFC have recently created an “E-series” of guns, with the “E” standing for “economy”. ICS have the plastic receiver sold half the price of their full metal counterparts.  It might well be up to Taiwan and Hong Kong to come up with more economical airsoft guns. Or perhaps the balance will swing back to TOKYO MARUI!

Recently I acquired the front assembly of a Mp5SD, I always wanted to own a rare gun used by the British SBS, the G3SBS its basically a silenced G3 gun. Luckily whoever designed the gun they borrowed the sound suppressing component from the mp5 sd. My attempt to create the gun proved to be successful. With some sandpaper and a rotary tool i get to fit the mp5 sd front assembly with the G3 sg1 receiver. Internal upgrades where Deepfire gearbox, systema cylinder, src piston head, deepfire Ti piston body, TU quadruple torque gearset, guarder itu motor, metal bushing,guarder bucking,CA ASN, pdi 190 spring since i don’t want to go over tournament FPS limit.

I was tempted to cut the deepfire 650mm barrel from the SR9 donor (waaaahhhh!), but hesitated so i took the hacksaw and cut the stock JG g3/sg1 inner barrel.

G3 SBS (base gun is a JG G3SAS + TM Mp5 SD Front assembly + JG G3/SG1 buttstock)

This is my attempt to create the sniper gun used by billy zane seen on the movie Sniper. The front outer barrel can be easily fabricated but i had a hard time looking for the psg1 butt and the low cap TM psg1 magazine. This is how close i can get to it, the SR9TC.

Fabricated a longer metal outer barrel for a DF 650mm tight barrel

When the mock suppressor is attached to conceal the longer edgi 208mm tight barrel that came from short lived g3sas.

I love this gun its light and compact (light when it was full ABS now that its full metal, its kinda heavy for its size ) good for CQB it only has limited bb capacity but wait until i get an mp5 cmag or a double long mp5 mag. I configured this gun for my all sunday afternoon party (when i get back to the game site) so Internally this gun should throw BB’s below 350fps. Stock JG Gearbox + XYT gear set + JG stock spring from g3 sg1.

MC51 (base gun is well r8 + CYMA mp5 front + MR777 RISmod)

G3 frankenstein

I’m keeping the MC51 as it is with a folding stock pic #3. Planning to throw in a peq15 or a 3 way lipoly inside the handguard, stock battery won’t fit with this configuration. Internal upgrades were TU metal teeth piston body, stock JG gear set, and a custom spring, JG motor, Edgi HK 416 length barrel the rest are stock. I haven’t chroned it yet.

This post will be updated as to the progress of the project. I don’t know how long this project will take that’s why I named it Longwalk.

Before i get my hands dirty and prolly destroying the donor parts in the process. Careful planning must be done to save materials, effort and of course money.

>Since the Handguard of the SG1 is totally different from that of a MSG990, There is nothing to do but to FABRICATE the entire handguard from the red lawa-an wood.

+I’ve recently discovered how to work with PVC so I will attempt to fabricate the MSG90 handguard using PVC.

MSG90 upper Receiver
>The upper receiver is also quite different. MSG90 body doesn’t have the rails for the sliding stock (retractable) it has been replaced with a Stiffening Rails witch can be easily fabricated. MSG90 body also has a forward assist just before the ejection port. It can be solved by fabricating the missing forward assist out of ABS plastic or PVC.

MSG90 Lower Receiver/Handgrip frame
>Dang this is hard…this is where i’m out of solution. At first I thought Mp5 lower receiver can easily be modded to fit the g3 body. I found out that its not that easy. So i turned the otherway around why not use the g3sas lower receiver instead of the mp5, cut off the handgrip+triggerguard from the mp5 and replace the g3 handgrip+trigger guard. It might solve the problem but I’m worried of the structural integrity of the gun.

MSG90 Scope Mount
>This can be easily be done by attaching/screw a picatiny rail on top of the body therefore scope can be mounted.

MSG90 Buttstock
>With the g3sas endcap and a piece of wood, the buttstock can be fabricated.

With all this in hand, I guess the project is virtually feasible at least I am 90% sure. 10% goes to the benefit of the doubt (lower receiver)…hehehehe

*Divide and conquer
One thing is for sure, this can’t be done overnight unlike my other mods which was mostly done between 2-4 hours of work. So dividing the missing components and work on the most difficult to attain first would be the right direction.

Stage 2: Fabrication/Modification

Fabricating/Modding the MSG90 Lower Receiver/Handgrip frame
Status: 99% completed.

+Found out that modding the g3 handgrip with mp5 might not be a good solution, If the plan works the resulting lower receiver might not look the same as the MSG90.

+So I reverted back to modding the mp5 lower receiver. The pictures will tell the story.

covered the mp5 selector hole and drilled a new hole for the g3 selector. Also did an extension mod for the stock lock pins. Lower handgrip is almost done.

The lower receiver/handgrip frame feels very sturdy, I did some reinforcement to secure the gap.

Stage 2: Fabrication/Modification

Fabricating/Modding the MSG90 Receiver.
Status: 90% completed.

Currently preparing the Receiver for modification.

Mod1: installation of stiffening rails.
Mod2: installation of Forward assist.
Mod3: Installation of picatiny rails.

Update:

currently sourcing for aluminum flat bar to be used as billet material for the stiffening rails (T rails).

I’ve already started modding the following

>> Some portions for the extended outer outerbarrel and inner barrel guide. Redone the whole Sight and Barrel extension made from aluminum.

>> Ejection port for the installation of the forward assist.

>> Fabrication of the forward assist out of aluminum tube and ABS plastic.

>> Modding the receiver and front charging tube for stainless steel reinforcement. Manual Charging/cocking will be disabled.

>> Installation of the picatiny rails.

Receiver and barrel Modification is complete, stiffening T rails installed, primer coated.

I’m thinking of installing a magpul PRS butt instead of fabricated wooden butt stock.

so here it is…the Custom HK MSG3 with a Magpul PRS stock.

If done right Airsoft should be FUN!  Two or more teams attempt to complete various objectives in a MILSIM or Speedball game (such as capture the flag, defend the base, etc.), which invariably end up with them shooting each other. The shooting in question is done by BB spitting real firearm replica called Airsoft guns  (or models if you’re trying to win favour with the local council) which use either Electric motor to compress a spring or Compressed air to fire BBs, a small plastic pellets at the opposition.  These pellets do not cause any lasting damage, or break the skin. You feel a stinging sensation, but it soon fades. Unlike paintball, these leave no mark (unless you’re shot from a very close range) and the game relies on personal honour prevailing in order to keep things running. No surprise there, as the game started off in Japan.

Though I haven’t played paintball before, most of the guys who did say airsoft is better than paintball for several reasons:

• It’s cheaper
• The weapons are more realistic

I’ll expand on those a bit;

Paintball is definitely expensive. FPS of the paintball markers are low thus having a short range. Paintballs are bigger. Funny thing is ZOMBIES are still present. Paintball markers looks like toy guns. You can’t just fire full automatic in paintball.	ICS BB for Airsoft	This brings me on to the weapons. A paintball gun (marker) looks like a gas bottle, with a piping-tube barrel and a large tub of paintballs on top. An Airsoft gun (model) looks like a gun. It looks *exactly* like a gun. The trademarks, the selector switches, accessories, magazines, etc. are all identical to the real thing. In many instances the real steel equipment fits on the Airsoft guns.

With this level of realism, tactics become a lot more important. Whereas in paintball you can rush a position and sometimes get through, if you try the same stunts in Airsoft you’ll get cut down in a hail of automatic fire before you’ve made ten yards. This adds another level of thought to the game and brings into play things such as fire and movement, sniping, camouflage, radio communications and building clearance.

NO SAFETY…KNOW PAIN. KNOW SAFETY…NO PAIN.

It’s like anything, it’s only dangerous if you’re stupid….STUPID! First thing you should have is protective gear,  If you’ve got a set of goggles or a mask then the worst you’re going to get is a wounded pride. Naturally you need to be careful when playing, woodland sites are full of places to trip up, trees to run into and the like, In a speedball game you just need to be fast in almost anything but be sure to have good boots with ankle support we don’t want a twisted ankle ruin the game.  but we’re all adults here, right?

Your best bet for your first skirmish is getting yourself along with a friend who does play the game to their game site. Its obvious your friend will lend you an Airsoft Gun of some type and give you an extensive safety briefing before you set off. This is all basic stuff. Goggles on or Mask down at all times except when in the safe zone, etc. The magic word if you have any problems whilst playing is “Marshall!”.

THE LAW vs Airsoft

This is the Philippines! Trust me, the law will win. They are about the only other problem you may run into. Now, I know that what you’re excitedly showing to your friend is just a realistic looking model, and so do you, but if you start waving it around in public then passers by won’t know that and neither will the POLICE  that gets called in. Switch your brain on before you go anywhere near a gun. If you’re renting, you shouldn’t have any problems as you’ll be on site all day. If it’s your own gun then get a LICENSE for it or I shouldn’t need to be telling you this, but: If you’re out in public, keep the gun locked away, preferably out of sight. Not only will this stop passers by from thinking that the local bank is about to be held up, but it also keeps it away from the prying eye of villains who would seek to part you from your very nice and very expensive toy.

So what now?

Get yourself  an Airsoft GUN NOW! From there you can go and find out the nearest site to you. Then, get down there and have a game. Be warned that this is highly addictive and will lead to a loss of weekends from now on in. Enjoy!
